In yesterday’s blog post I mentioned the few Mayflower “Silver Books” that we have in our holdings. One of the benefits of coming to our genealogy library for research is that we also subscribe to the New England Historic Genealogical Society’s website American Ancestors.
You can use their website to learn as they have many links to subject guides, webinars, lectures, and how-to videos.
You can also use their website to search their online databases.
One of the databases they have on American Ancestors are the Mayflower Families Fifth Generation Descendants (the “Silver Books”) that they have digitized! It was part of a collaboration with the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. You can read more about it here: https://www.americanancestors.org/silverbooks.
They announced in May of 2018 that they completed the digitization project of all 31 volumes of the “Silver Books”: https://dbnews.americanancestors.org/2018/05/14/mayflower-families-fifth-generation-descendants-1700-1880-is-now-complete/.
NEHGS also has a Mayflower 2020 webpage that you may be interested in checking out here: https://mayflower.americanancestors.org.
Please visit our NCGS library to use our subscription to the American Ancestors website! Our library is located on the 2nd floor of the Niagara County Historical Society located at 215 Niagara St., Lockport, NY 14094 and we are open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 1 – 4:45pm.
